Yates is the first into the fifties, just 0.007 seconds slower than his career-best ET, with a career-best speed, and he's 'your new #1 qualifier."Left Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 6.611/209.14, Now #7 Best prior run: 6.710/205.54, Was #20 Right Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 6.599/208.88, Now #2 Best prior run: 6.696/206.20, Was #16Hammonds celebrates his birthday with a nice pass and a career-best ET (and almost a career-best speed). Humphreys is the second driver in the fifties - no career-best numbers, but he ties his previous best speed.Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.592/210.47, Now #2 Best prior run: 6.699/206.13, Was #19 Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.616/210.01, Now #9 Best prior run: 6.694/206.70, Was #17Gray made the better run of these two - top speed of the meet and a career-best. Anderson left a lot in the first 60 feet, 1.000 compared to 0.986 for Gray. Gray takes over the second spot. On the PA, Gray said it "wallered on down there."Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.567/210.87, Now #1 Best prior run: 6.698/206.51, Was #19 Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.567/210.44, Now #2 Best prior run: 6.691/207.02, Was #18WJ had a 0.993 60-foot time, rare for him, but Edwards had a 0.986, matched WJ's ET and beat him on speed! For WJ, both are career-best numbers - "Who'd a thunk it?"Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.620/209.49, Now #13 Best prior run: 6.689/206.13, Was #19 Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 7.953/114.66, Now #19 Best prior run: 6.681/206.23, Was #18Aj shook and lifted. We'll see, the first session was pretty wild.
Humphrey's car made a hard right on the launch and he barely avoided making contact with the wall, getting very sideways in the process. Buehring slowed a bit from his earlier run and his weekend is over.
Left Lane: Joe Swindoll Runs 7.034/190.65, Now #20 Best prior run: 6.705/205.60, Was #20 Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 12.717/66.35, Now #22 Best prior run: 6.759/203.28, Was #22Rickie Jones is on the bump spot at 6.622, so it will take a very good effort to bump him out.Enders' car started to do a dance about 100 feet out and she shut it down. Swindoll was 1.000 for the first 60 feet, but could not come close to his earlier time.
Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.587/210.18, Now #6 Best prior run: 6.681/206.23, Was #19 Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.695/207.18, Now #20 Best prior run: 6.715/207.85, Was #21AJ came through under pressure and bumped way up into the field. So did Gaines, but he also came up short.Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.603/209.85, Now #11 Best prior run: 6.622/209.33, Was #17 Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.576/209.59, Now #6 Best prior run: 6.620/209.49, Was #16Jones needed to improve a couple thousandths to get back in, Krisher needed to improve to stay in if Jones improved. Both had strong 60-foot times, both improved substantially, and Greg Stanfield ended up getting bumped from the field. Now Greg Anderson is on the bump spot at 6.616. This is now the quickest Pro Stock field ever. Both Krisher and Jones made their fastest runs ever, by the way.
Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.563/211.89, Now #3 Best prior run: 6.616/210.01, Was #16 Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.631/208.59, Now #17 Best prior run: 6.617/209.04, Was #17Anderson made his fastest run ever to get way off the bump spot. Stanfield failed to improve and stayed on the outside. That's the fastest speed ever and a national speed record for Anderson, too, backed up by the 210.01 he ran earlier today.Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.628/210.01, Now #15 Best prior run: 6.605/209.62, Was #15 Right Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 6.627/209.14, Now #16 Best prior run: 6.611/209.14, Was #16Nice runs, both lanes, but they get lost by comparison.Left Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.655/208.97, Now #14 Best prior run: 6.603/208.55, Was #13 Right Lane: David Beckley Runs 6.592/209.46, Now #10 Best prior run: 6.605/209.75, Was #14Another career-best ET for Beckley, moving him four steps up the ladder.Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 6.613/208.88, Now #12 Best prior run: 6.599/208.88, Was #11 Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.574/209.79, Now #6 Best prior run: 6.600/209.98, Was #12Two more nice runs, Coughlin moving into the top half of the field.Left Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.605/209.59, Now #7 Best prior run: 6.575/209.30, Was #7 Right Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 10.106/89.48, Now #10 Best prior run: 6.592/210.47, Was #10Gray's car chattered the tires and made a hard left turn about 200 feet out. Nice pass by Edwards, very consistent, but no improvement.Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.597/210.41, Now #2 Best prior run: 6.562/210.44, Was #2 Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.565/210.34, Now #1 Best prior run: 6.544/211.49, Was #1The track crew took a hard look at the left lane, about where WJ's car got loose, but they found nothing wrong. KJ made a long burnout and took his own long look at the track in that area, then backed up. KJ went right through that part of the track without a wiggle. Two good runs, no improvement for either driver, and Pro Stock qualifying finishes with Jason Line #1 and Tom Hammonds on the bump spot at 6.611, the quickest field ever.

Johnson and Krisher have each won 9 times against the other in prior events. Krisher holds a 6-5 edge in round one matchups. AJ's best finish here was a runner-up in '07.
This one was all Krisher, away first with a great light and more than a car length ahead at the line, with a career-best speed.
(W) Jim Yates (Wiley X Eye Wear GXP) 0.057 6.607 209.39 (L) Johnny Gray (Johnny Gray Racing Stratus) 0.075 7.442 150.58Yates has been runner-up here three times, would love to win it before "retiring." Gray was the first driver in Competition Eliminator to break the 200 mph "barrier" and he did it here, on a run he lost with a red light. This is the first time Gray and Yates have faced each other in eliminations.Yates had the starting line advantage, then pulled away when Gray's car started wagging its tail about 100 feet out.

Jeg has won here twice, in Pro Stock in '00 and in Super Stock in '94.Beckley had a good light and a good run, Jeg had a better light and won on a holeshot. Jeg Coughlin's incremental margins: 60ft(0.010), 330 ft(0.002), 660ft(0.000), 1,000ft(0.002). MOV: 0.0047 seconds (approximately 17 inches).

KJ has two wins and two runner up finishes here. He was last year's runner-up.Huge upset, on a holeshot, Morgan sends Kurt Johnson home. Larry Morgan's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.015), 330 ft(0.012), 660ft(0.018), 1,000ft(0.019). MOV: 0.0166 seconds (approximately 5 feet).
