He won here at Englishtown in 1991 and 2005. Hagan has never raced a Funny Car at this track. The only time these two have faced each other before today was at Houston in March. Worsham won that race. This one was not pretty but Worsham got the win. Both cars launched and Hagan got out to about 100 feet when there was a flash of fire came out from under his car. The blower blew right after that and the chutes came out. Worsham got to about mid track before the rear tires on his car started to smoke and he backed off the throttle.

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of final, round 4 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 40th annual United Association NHRA
SuperNationals:
W/L Driver R-Time E-Time Speed
(W) Tony Pedregon (Nitrofish Impala) 0.068 4.246 260.56
(L) Ashley Force Hood (Castrol GTX Mustang) 0.125 4.219 272.72
5:34 p.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 29.88 inches, adjusted altitude 1,705 feet, track temperature 101 degrees. Force Hood and Pedregon raced each other in the final round at Joliet last weekend. Pedregon got the win then, just as he got the win in Las Vegas in October 2007, the only other time he and Force Hood have raced each other in the final round. There was more at stake in this race than just the event title. The winner of this race would leave with the Funny Car points lead.
A holeshot win for Pedregon and both drivers had trouble with their cars in this race. Pedregon got out of the gate first and extended his lead at 330 feet. His car started to move around and get a little loose, giving Force Hood a chance to close the gap. But then Force Hood's car started to move around a bit before it started heavily trailing smoke as it crossed the finish line.
With this win, Pedregon took over the lead in the Funny Car points race.
