      Left Lane: Rob Passey       Runs 5.996/110.40, Now #1
     Right Lane: Todd Simpson     Runs 6.684/97.74, Now #2
Weather conditions: air temperature 89 degrees, relative humidity 33 percent, barometer 24.29 inches, adjusted altitude 9,712 feet, track temperature 95 degrees.

Simpson starting dropping cylinders as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Passey pitched the blower belt around 250 feet.

Just for a perspective, after last year's round one of qualifying Cory McCLenathan was number one with a 4.023 seconds and Tony Schumacher had the fastest pass in the first round at 299.40 mph.

Bernstein is 8 - 4 against Lucas in prior events. Lucas is out of the gate first and runs his quickest pass of the weekend to take the win light. No problems for Bernstein, but slowed from his qualifying time.

Langdon is 1 - 0 against Hartley in prior events. Langdon was out of the gate first, but Hartley has the lead at 330 feet. Hartley then starts to loose traction and drop cylinder just past half track, and that was all Langdon needed to take the win. Langdon started spinning the tires and dropping cylinders on the top end.

Strasburg and Massey have each won 1 times against the other in prior events. Massey with the starting line advantage and never looks back to take the win with the second quickest pass of the round and the first 300 mph pass of the day. Strasburg with a nice clean pass.

This is the first time Passey and Brown have faced each other in eliminations. Passey loses traction as soon as the light turns green and then bangs the blower and throws the belt off, and he coast on through the 1000 feet. Brown appeared to be a real nice pass, but then slowed on the top end. He will give up lane choice to Lucas in round two.
