There were dark clouds in the sky as this session started and it looked like rain would be coming in soon.

Morris took his car straight down the groove.

This was the first national event for Pomponio's new car. Both cars went down the middle of the track but drifted near each other at the end of the track.

There was one qualifying session yesterday but only eight cars made passes before rain ended racing yesterday.

Dobbs took his car straight down the groove to move into the number nine spot for now.

Manzo did not make a run in the first session yesterday. Today, he came through with a strong pass to take over the number one spot. If he stays there, it will be the tenth time he's qualified number one for this race. Nothstein had some tire shake for the first couple of hundred feet but he drove through it.

A pair of clean runs put Cox back into the field and got Ferro into the number three spot for now. Wayne Butler is on the bump spot at 5.949.

Pomponio drifted right and came close to the wall. He ran along the wall for a few hundred feet before getting back to the middle of the lane. Fiorini had his career best ET and speed on this run.

Morris shook the rear tires when he launched. He backed off the throttle and got right back on it to finish the run. McNiece was not as quick as yesterday.

Fiorini's crew could not get his car started, so Tigges had a solo run. He carried the left front wheel in the air for about 300 feet, then drifted toward the center line.

Lourie's car was loose from the start. He had to get off the throttle then get back on it, but he still drifted around in his lane. Roman was slower out of the gate and trailed to 330 feet, then drove past Lourie and went on to take his first NHRA national event round win.

McNeice spun the tires when he launched. He pedaled it and when he got back onto the throttle, he shook the rear tires very hard and the car bounced around. Harvanek got a little bit loose at the start of the run but quickly got things straightened out for the win.

Schuster had the lead at 60 feet but after that, it was Cox all the way. He'll face Roman in the next round and Roman will have lane choice.

Sgro had this one from start to finish and took his second national event round win. He gave up lane choice to White in the next round.

Nothstein just found out why it is not good to qualify in the number 16 spot when Manzo qualifies number one. Manzo will have lane choice over Tigges in the next round. This was Manzo's 37th consecutive round win at this race.

Harvanek got a little loose at mid track and it slowed him. It probably did not matter because Ferro was well ahead of him at that point and was running straight down the groove.

Sgro was first out of the gate but White caught him just before the 330-foot marker. From there, White pulled ahead to get the win and lane choice over Ferro in the next round.

Tigges had a great light but could not hold the lead to 60 feet, when Manzo got by him to take the win. Manzo's car made a small move at about 800 feet or so, but it was not enough to keep him from earning lane choice over Cox in round three.

Both drivers made clean runs but White was quicker to take the win. He'll be going on to the 12th final round of his TAFC career.

During the semifinal round, the rear of the body on Manzo's car was damaged when the pilot chute came out and pulled the main chutes, tangling them up and breaking the body. Manzo was 50 -4 in his last 54 final rounds, 32 - 1 in his last 33 finals and had won 22 consecutive final rounds coming into this round. Since the Memphis race in 1999, Manzo has lost to only four drivers and White is one of those drivers. White beat Manzo on a holeshot at Columbus in 2002. Manzo is 3 - 1 against White in final rounds.

This time, it was Manzo's turn to win on a holeshot. Manzo got out of the gate first, with White closing the gap. Before White could get by Manzo, the pair crossed the finish line with Manzo getting his tenth win here in a row.

We're up against the curfew here so racing will come to an end for evening. The Top Alcohol Dragster finals, as well as the remaining Sportsman rounds, will be run tomorrow. DRC will be here to follow the action.
