Results for Qualifying Round 1
POMONA, Calif. - POMONA 2 - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 45th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

1:51 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 28.67 inches, adjusted altitude 2,747 feet, track temperature 86 degrees.

Cunningham brings his rumored Ford Hemi 2010 Pro Stock Mustang to the line to start the first session of the weekend.

The horse runs down the track after driving through the clutch and slows.

Left Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 6.725/205.01, Now #1
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.739/204.63, Now #2

Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.798/203.34, Now #4
Ender's has a new 2010 Mustang too and gets the car from start to finish without any drama. She won't be happy with the ET and Speed, but not too bad for a first pass on a new combination.

Gruninger almost matches her times to move ahead of her by one spot.
Left Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.652/207.88, Now #1
Right Lane: Dave Northrop Runs 6.698/206.26, Now #2
We get our first six-sixties with Deceglie moving around a little down low.
Left Lane: Ryan Ondrejko Runs 6.657/207.21, Now #2
Right Lane: Ronnie Humphrey Runs 6.663/208.75, Now #3

660ft-4.279/164.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.569.
Ronnie Humphrey's incremental times: 60ft-1.002 sec., 330ft-2.803, 660ft-4.296/165.27 mph, 1,000ft-5.580.
Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.737/205.13, Now #7
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.648/207.72, Now #1
Brogdon has a little wiggle at the sixty foot lights and still has the beans to take over the top spot.

Gaines' times may not hold before we are done today.
Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.671/207.88, Now #6
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.655/207.94, Now #3
Two clan passes into the current top half of the show.
Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.665/207.75, Now #7
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.653/207.85, Now #3
Erica Enders is on the bump spot at 6.798.

The younger Johnson has a 0.984 sixty foot time and parlays it into a #3 qualifying spot.

A resurgent Jones just misses the top half of the twelve car field.

Rickie Jones' incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.794, 660ft-4.292/164.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.580.
Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.784, 660ft-4.280/164.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.568.
Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.649/208.01, Now #2
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.658/207.88, Now #7
Gray puts one up on the screen with a big MPH and into the current #2 spot.

Johnson'stimes were comparable down dow, but he can't keep the pace after the 330 mark.

Johnny Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.783, 660ft-4.277/165.11 mph, 1,000ft-5.564.
Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.791, 660ft-4.287/165.25 mph, 1,000ft-5.574.
Left Lane: Ron Krisher No Time, Now #19
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 9.929/92.87, Now #18
Gordie Rivera is on the bump spot at 6.725.

Well, that was weird! Krisher car just sits in the lights at the green and has to be pushed back by his crew.

Coughlin has a fair leave and then has the Cobalt go wacky after sixty feet and he has to lift.
Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.659/208.26, Now #9
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.655/208.62, Now #5
Both car jiggle around at the launch and then scoot down the track without any more drama.

Good passes for tuning tomorrow.
Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.647/206.20, Now #2
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.637/209.46, Now #1
Warren Johnson is on the bump spot at 6.671.

Well, is all but over, as soon as the two drivers saw green light. Edwards' pass gives him enough points to unofficially ensure the 2009 Pro Stock Championship. It will all be official on Saturday at the end of qualifying.

Once again, Edwards power prevails with the quickest and fastest pass of the session.

Anderson gets bragging rights for RT, but has to settle for the number two spot, both on the ladder and in the 2009 points.

Two great looking passes

Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.774, 660ft-4.264/164.71 mph, 1,000ft-5.555.
Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.789, 660ft-4.279/165.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.559.

Results for Qualifying Round 2
POMONA, Calif. - POMONA 2 - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 45th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.632/208.26, Now #1

2:06 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 70 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 28.68 inches, adjusted altitude 2,658 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

Ronnie Humphrey is on the bump spot at 6.663 and Jeg goes from last to frist to set the tone for this round.

Nice 0.986 sixty foot time gives him the new top spot.

Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.267/165.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.551.

Left Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 7.409/202.00, Now #23

                                  No Prior Run
Greg Stanfield is on the bump spot at 6.659.

Cunningham's new Mustang bogs and then shakes a bunch and can't improve. Wrong gear at the start?

Krisher gets a full pass this time and squeeks into the field for now. Not likely to last.
Left Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.753/204.08, Now #21
Best prior run: 6.798/203.34, Was #22

Best prior run: 6.792/202.97, Was #21
Two clean passes, but just not enough HP to qualify. They swap spots on the ladder.
Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.713/205.69, Now #19
Best prior run: 6.739/204.63, Was #20

No joy for these two either. No problems, just not enough improvements.
Left Lane: Dave Northrop Runs 6.637/207.85, Now #3
Best prior run: 6.698/206.26, Was #18

Best prior run: 6.725/205.01, Was #20
Northrop makes the most of the run and its a good one to move him all the way up to the new #3 position and reset the bump.

Rivera has a 0.982 sixty foot time and can't leverage it into a qualifying position.

Dave Northrop's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.270/165.42 mph, 1,000ft-5.554.

Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.658/208.97, Now #13

Great pass for Humphrey to shoot up to the new top spot.

Ronnie Humphrey's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.785, 660ft-4.271/165.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.553.

...and the hits keep coming.

The left lane produces another move from outside the field into the top spot. Its Johnson this time in the Mopar Stratus.

Jones' "new engine" is producing well and moves his Dodge into the top half of the field.

Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.759, 660ft-4.248/165.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.531.

Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.782, 660ft-4.271/165.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.552.

Brogdon clicked it early yesterday to give the brakes a good test, after problems at Vegas II.

It's a full pull this time and a good one into the new #2 position on the ladder. Nice clean pass.

Gray picks up a little to move off the bump spot.

Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.773, 660ft-4.259/165.68 mph, 1,000ft-5.541.

Greg Anderson is on the bump spot at 6.647 and Edwards is number eight.

But not for long. Edwards just puts another nail in thePro Stock coffin, with a 0.973 sixty foot time and then runs it on down to run our first fifty of the weekend.

Anderson does what he has to and makes a strong pass into the final #4 position of the round.

2:30 p.m. Johnny Gray is on the bump spot at 6.642.

Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.704/208.30, Now #13

12:18 p.m. Next to last qualifying attempt for Morgan's Stratus, with a new 2010 Ford Mustang in his future.

The car moves hard out of the groove at the hit and Morgan has his hands full. He drives right on through it to move into the bottom of the extended sixteen field. That may not last long.

Left Lane: Danny Gruninger Runs 6.756/205.88, Now #14
                                  No Prior Run

                                  No Prior Run
Cunningham joins Morgan in jumping out of the groove, but he has to lift.

Gruninger gets a full pull into the #14 spot for now.

                                  No Prior Run
Two straight passes with a strong career best pass for Rivera. Enders car was slow down low and she slides into the #15 spot.

                                  No Prior Run
Look out! The two cars both get out of the groove right off the starting line and point right at each other.

Gaines straightens it out and Watson doesn't. Gaines gets in the field for now and Watson doesn't.

V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.003 sec., 330ft-2.832, 660ft-4.335/164.27 mph, 1,000ft-5.628.
Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.587/209.69, Now #2

These two are are usually well into the field by now.

Great run for both cars. Ugly RT's, but that doesn't count today. Krisher gets the best of it to move all the way up to the new #2 spot. Johnson's #5 times should hold.

A little wiggle for both cars off the line and they run right on down for top half of the field positions.

Vinnie Deceglie's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.253/165.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.535.

Johnny Gray is on the bump spot at 6.642 and needs some big numbers to stay in the field.

Looks like they both did their homework with Humphrey's carding a big 210.110 MPH!

Johnny Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.781, 660ft-4.268/166.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.549.

Best prior run: 6.621/208.78, Was #7
Brogdon's Foghorn Leghorn say's: "Ya know son, them bonus points are nice, but I think it'll be NEXT year that they'll really come into play for us!"

Warren Johnson is on the bump spot at 6.639. No top three spot for Brogdon this session, as he is bumped down a spot by a strong pass by Ondrejko. Both cars stay in the top half of the field for now.

Best prior run: 6.575/210.31, Was #1
Way too much drama!

Both of Anderson's chutes pop out on the burnout and the crew frantically works to get them back in the packs. Edwards shows his sportsmanship and patiently waits.

No burn out for the Summit car and he still gets a 0.985 sixty foot time to help move him up into the #4 spot on the tough Pro Sports ladder.

Another killer pass for Edwards, but he can't improve on his prior best pass.

BTW: The chutes worked in the lights!

Last chance to qualify and it's all over by 100 feet as the new Mustang makes a quick dart towards the center line. Cunningham wisely shuts it down.

Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 7.162/152.45, Now #22
Best prior run: 14.533/56.94, Was #23

Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.256/165.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.537.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.589/210.01, Now #3

Best prior run: 6.604/210.18, Was #4
The two Summit cars come to the line in the current #3 and #4 position.

Lots of smoke from Line's car down track. Must not of been too bad, as he loses just 0.002 in ET, but picks up some MPH.

Similar situation for Anderson on ET and MPH. They stay in their current positions on two good clean4:10 p.m. runs.

Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.761, 660ft-4.241/166.66 mph, 1,000ft-5.515.
Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.262/166.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.539.
Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.562/210.64, Now #1

Best prior run: 6.587/209.69, Was #2
Crushing pass for Edwards to cap the final 2009 Pro Stock qualifying session and, finally, the Championship too. Terrific incrementals take him to the quickest ET and fastest MPH of the meet. Dominant is too weak a word!

Krisher made a good representative pass in the right lane, but was really overshadowed by Edwards.

Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.741, 660ft-4.218/166.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.491.
Ron Krisher's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.265/166.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.542.

Results for Elimination Round 1
POMONA, Calif. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 45th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals:
 W/L Driver R-Time E-Time Speed

 (W) Rodger Brogdon (Charter GXP) 0.019 6.599 209.49
 (L) Ronnie Humphrey (Troy Humphrey GXP) 0.297 7.715 132.67
Weather conditions: air temperature 73 degrees, relative humidity 33 percent, barometer 29.00 inches, adjusted altitude 2,396 feet, track temperature 87 degrees.

Humphrey and Brogdon have never faced each other in eliminations. Foghorn Leghorn says: "Now looka, I say, looka here. I think it's time we "Chartered" our way to the next round with a little "Attitude"! Sorry, Ronnie!!"

Looks like the old rooster knew what was going on, as Brogdon runs a near career best ET. Humphrey uses a lot of track getting to the finish line and gets there second.

Rodger Brogdon's incremental margins: 60ft(0.304), 330 ft(0.331), 660ft(0.449), 1,000ft(0.848). MOV: 1.3943 seconds (more than 100 feet).

Ronnie Humphrey's incremental times: 60ft-1.007 sec., 330ft-2.813, 660ft-4.415/140.81 mph, 1,000ft-6.092.

 (W) Kurt Johnson (AC Delco Cobalt) 0.049 6.642 209.49
 (L) Johnny Gray (Johnny Gray Racing Stratus) 0.011 6.912 206.39
Gray has had Johnson number in first round, winning all four prior encounters.

Not today, as Gray has problems down track and slows.

Kurt Johnson's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.039), 330 ft(0.124), 660ft(0.185), 1,000ft(0.215). MOV: 0.2322 seconds (approximately 70 feet).

Johnny Gray's incremental times: 60ft-1.000 sec., 330ft-2.957, 660ft-4.506/160.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.817.

 (L) Vinnie Deceglie (Mountain View Tire Stratus 0.072 7.817 128.19
The two cars switch lanes before going up to run.

The left lane is evil for the Pro Stockers with Deceglie getting way loose and close to the wall at half track. He has to lift.

Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.262/164.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.559.

 (W) Greg Stanfield (Attitude Apparel GXP) 0.032 6.616 209.59
 (L) Ryan Ondrejko (Wiley X GXP) 0.034 6.627 208.52
Stanfield and Ondrejko are meeting for the time in eliminations.

Staging battle! Neither car makes a move to turn on the bottom lights.

Almost exactly even RT's and Stanfield is behind until near the 330 lights, where he gets back on by. It stays close all the way to the end, where he gets the close win.

Greg Stanfield's MOV: 0.0133 seconds (approximately 4 feet).

Greg Stanfield's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.009), 330 ft(0.003), 660ft(0.009), 1,000ft(0.011). MOV: 0.0133 seconds (approximately 4 feet).

Ryan Ondrejko's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.265/165.60 mph, 1,000ft-5.547.
Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-1.000 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.258/166.39 mph, 1,000ft-5.538.

 (W) Greg Anderson (Summit Racing Equipment GXP) 0.017 6.580 210.73
 (L) Dave Northrop (GXP) 0.092 6.660 209.20
Another lane switch before the burnouts. Anderson has a three to one win advantage over Northrop in prior encounters.

Nothing wrong with the left lane after all. Anderson runs the table on incremental number and a big win with a new top speed of the meet.

Anderson will have Stanfield later today with lane choice.

Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.763, 660ft-4.238/167.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.509.
Dave Northrop's incremental times: 60ft-1.027 sec., 330ft-2.817, 660ft-4.304/166.05 mph, 1,000ft-5.583.

 (W) Mike Edwards (A.R.T./Young Life GXP) 0.075 6.587 210.34
 (L) Larry Morgan (Lucas Oil Stratus) -0.004(R) 13.306 65.46
Morgan has an 8-6 win advantage over our new 2009 Pro Stock Champion, Edwards, with a 4-3 first round history.

Not this time as Morgan goes red by -0.004 and then has his Stratus go dead right. He has to lift.

Edwards is long gone and hard to find, running his quickest pass of the weekend for the easy win. He'll see Brogdon with lane choice in the next round.

Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.761, 660ft-4.240/166.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.515.
Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-3.513, 660ft-6.672/070.39 mph, 1,000ft-10.031.

 (W) Ron Krisher (Valvoline Cobalt) 0.036 6.600 210.18
 (L) Rickie Jones (Quarter-Max/RJ Stratus) 0.007 7.170 142.34
Jones has a 3-2 win advantage over Krisher. They are 2-1 in the first round.

Big advantage off the line for Jones and then the starts to move around a little, he starts to correct and the Stratus really starts to move around, so he lifts.

Krisher will have lane choice over Kurt Johnson in the next round.

Ron Krisher's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.775, 660ft-4.254/166.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.527.

 (W) Jason Line (Summit Racing Equipment GXP) 0.052 6.562 210.77
 (L) Jeg Coughlin (Jegs.com Cobalt) 0.013 6.687 208.97
These two usually meet in later rounds. Line has a 16-14 overall advantage with a 3-1 first round record.

Whoa! Take no prisoners! He ties the best ET of the meet. Jeggy is ahead off the line and is able to stay there until just after the 100 foot mark, where the Summit GXP goes thundering by.

12:25 p.m. Jason Line's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.022), 330 ft(0.041), 660ft(0.064), 1,000ft(0.076). MOV: 0.0867 seconds (approximately 27 feet).

He will face Allen Johnson in round two with lane choice

Edwards has won both of their prior races, with only one second round encounter.

Brogdon nails the tree, but can't keep the pace after mid-track. Edwards cards another six-fifty for the easy win.

Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.763, 660ft-4.238/167.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.508.

 (L) Greg Stanfield (Attitude Apparel GXP) -0.007(R) 6.787 170.02
These two have several seasons of racing against each other. Anderson has a 17-13 win record, but the both have five wins against each other in round two.

Stanfield just misses the green by -0.007 to give the free pass to Anderson. He uses the big Summit power to take lane choice over Edwards by 0.004 in the next round.

Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.261/166.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.553.
