Chrisman with a clean pass, but slowed from his qualifying time, but still takes the win light. Chrisman will give up lane choice to Lucas in round two.

Brown is 4 - 0 against Buff in prior events. Buff with a slight starting line advantage was straight down the groove to take the win. Brown with violent tire shake as soon as he hit the throttle and he pedaled it and the car was still shaking hard. The left rear wheel snapped off and went flying down the track. Brown's car then made quick move left and slammed into the left wall. The front of his car got up on the wall and there was a big fireball. The car was sliding down the wall with the front of the dragster still on the wall and the car on fire. The car came to rest around 660 feet on it's side and the front of the car still on the wall and still on fire. Brown is out of the car and the report from the top end is he is okay.

Lucas is 7 - 6 against Kalitta in prior events. They leave together and they both start to lose traction. Kalitta is off and on the throttle a couple times and finally gets it tot hook up and takes the win light. Lucas was up in smoke and pedaled it and was back up in smoke.

Torrence is 2 - 1 against McClenathan in prior events. Torrence is out of the gate first and then bangs the blower and the chutes are deployed. McClenathan launched hard and keep it hooked up for the win and the quickest pass of the event. Apparently McClenathan used up an engine on the top end as there was a big cloud of engine smoke and the Safety Safari is rolling. McClenathan will have lane choice in the final.

Kalitta gave it a valiant try with a much better RT. His small lead quickly disappeared right after the 60 foot lights, as the big slicks spin and smoke. He tries the throttle one more time and gives it up.

Cory Mac is taking no prisoners and runs within 0.001 of his third round ET with a better MPH. That's two for two for Team Schumacher!
