GAINESVILLE, Fla. - GAINESVILLE - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 41st annual NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 5.781/249.07, Now #2
Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.666/256.21, Now #1

Left Lane: John Sullivan Runs 24.496/28.82, Now #4
Right Lane: Jason McKnight Runs 5.905/214.45, Now #3
Sullivan's motor started to puff blue smoke out the right bank of header pipes, he lifted right off the line, then slowly puffed his way to the top end. McKnight lifted early, but he was far enough down the track we couldn't see why from the tower.
Left Lane: Frank Schuster Runs 6.065/196.13, Now #4
Right Lane: Ray Drew Runs 6.273/236.13, Now #5
Schuster had a puff of flame when he lifted at the finish line, Drew had to pedal it after he got close to the center line.
Schuster left some "stuff" on the track, so we're down for a brief cleanup.
Left Lane: Scott McNiece Runs 7.269/138.06, Now #7
Right Lane: John Anderika Runs 5.991/216.69, Now #4
McNiece shook then vaulted to the left and kissed the wall abut the halfway point. He got off the wall and coasted the rest of the way, hopefully there won't be a long line of liquids and stuff on the track. The repair truck is getting hot-lapped here in Round One of Top Alcohol Funny Car.
Left Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.926/227.27, Now #4
Right Lane: Larry Dobbs Runs 24.755/39.93, Now #10
