All that hype and it turned into a pedaling contest, with Dixon coaxing his flaming beast to the stripe first. Literally, because he "blowed it up" and the engine was ablaze as he crossed the finish line. Dixon's 50th win was not pretty, but it was fun to watch. Brown smoked the tires second and had the initial lead in the pedaling contest, but Dixon managed to regain enough traction to spurt into the lead when it counted. Hagan is out of the gate first and never trailed and Arend started to lose traction early. He pedaled it and couldn't get it to hook back up, while Hagan started to haze the tires and mix up cylinders on the top end, but held on for the win. Hagan wins his first National event win in four tries, and in the 23 year history of this event the number five qualifier wins.

It is Guest's first-ever final and he is Reichert's 148th different opponent. Reichert's win in the semifinals gave him 239 round wins, which moves him past Rick Santos for the most round wins in Top Alcohol Dragster.
They were dead-even at the start, but Reichert led from 60 feet on. Guest gave him a good race, but Reichert notched his 21st national event win in convincing fashion. This is the third time number one and two qualifiers have race in the final at this event and the previous two time the number two qualifier won, and for the 21st time in the history of this event the winner has come from the top half of the field.

This is a good a final as you will ever see. They are 1-1 against each other in final rounds, Fletcher in his 100th final round, Rampy in his 118th.

It was a good, close race all the way, but Cummings put together a 0.034 package to beat Chaney's 0.042 package and win by about 19 inches.
