Arend with the starting line advantage, but Hight has the difference made up by the time they go by the christmas tree and then makes a great pass for the win. The seemingly untouchable Edwards has had a stumble here or there earlier this year and it appears there might be an opening here or there in his armor.
The Johnsons have reached this point by doing it their way. Back in their Super Stock days (and in the early days of Pro Stock) Roy Johnson made his own power. He still does and has proven he can butt heads with the best. He's apparently made some strides very recently as the Mopar has been challenging the very quickest cars in the class.
In a great drag race, Edwards serves notice that the reports of his downfall are highly premature. He may be a bit concerned that AJ had better performance but he's still got a few tricks to pull out a win. If Johnson was coming back on Mike hard on the top end and would have won a 1400 foot race.
Edwards extends his lead in the points with a holeshot victory.

He's won his last four final rounds. Niver won here in 2008. He also won Seattle that year, defeating Shields.
Shields dominates this race from one end to the other. He leaves first and then simply drives away. Congratulations to the entire Shields team!

Thompson is too quick on the tree and turned on the red light. Payne collects his 38th National event win. This is his third National event win here in Topeka.

Ficco has been really hot lately, but I can't think of a tougher racer to bet against in a final than David Rampy. The pair has never met in competition until this round. Ficco won the Winternations this year.
Rampy has 72 wins, seven of them here which is his most at any racetrack.
And, once again, Rampy demonstrates why he's one of the most respected drag racers in the world.
