After a long week of racing, we come down to the last pair of race cars for the weekend. Dixon has a six to two advantage over McClenathan in final rounds. This is Dixon's tenth final of the year and Cory Mac's seventh. They have met three times already this year, recently at the 2010 Lucas Oil Nations in Brainerd, MN. This is the fifth time in Indy history that the number one and number two qualifiers have met in the final round, with the #1 qualifier winning three times. Most notable was the Garlits vs. Carbone burn down. What a great race! Dixon had lane choice and made the most of it. He was away first by 0.017 and steadily pulled ahead all the way to the finish line on a great side by side race. McClenathan was right there waiting for any fault by Dixon,but it was not to be. Edwards is 15 - 4 against Stanfield in prior events and Edwards is 2 - 0 against Stanfield in prior final rounds. Edwards has won the two times that he has faced Stanfield in the final round. The most recent encounter was at the Las Vegas 2010 SummitRacing.com Nations. Stanfield had been matching Edwards times throughout elimination and goes for the tree to ensure a win. Hines is 3 - 1 against Tonglet in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round. Hines was looking for a "sweep" and a record one-race points total (because of bonus points for five rounds instead of four), but he had to settle for second place to the presumptive "Rookie of the Year." Tonglet left first by a hundredth, then extended his lead at every timing increment to win decisively. LE Tonglet's incremental margins: 60ft(0.054), 330 ft(0.071), 660ft(0.083), 1,000ft(0.100). In the semifinals, it was Personett's car that trailed a huge cloud of smoke at the end of the run, but it is Baker's car that is too wounded to answer the call for the final round. Personett spooled it up and made a hard charge to half track, then slowed with "the laundry out," ready to accept his "Wally" and the biggest prize in drag racing, a win at Indy.

Bartone was off the line first, but went into tire shake almost immediately and Payne was a surprisingly easy winner to take home a coveted "win at Indy."

Massel had already burned a lot of CIC to get a permanent change on Tuesday and now red lights away the Championship with a 0.001 red light. Al Ackerman is the 2010 Comp Eliminator Champion.

W/L Driver R-Time E-Time Speed (W) Jim Daniels (SS/AH '68 Dart) 0.018 8.560 155.74 (L) David Barton (SS/AH '68 Barracuda) 0.027 8.559 155.157:57 p.m. Both drivers had good lights, but Daniels had a hundredth in hand at the tree and was only a thousandth slower than Barton at the stripe for another holeshot win on a day that almost ended before it began. Just minutes before the class pulled into the staging lanes, Daniels' car peeled off from the Mopar Hemi Challenge parade and exited via the 'short chute." Reportedly, the car was running badly because of a loose screw that lodged in the carburetor. He was able to get the problem sorted out just in time to pull back into the lanes just before the first pair of cars pulled across the ready line. The race was a close one all the way, but Barton was never able to get the nose of his Barracuda out in front of Daniels' Dart. Jim Daniels' incremental margins: 60ft(0.034), 330 ft(0.013), 660ft(0.006), 1,000ft(0.003). MOV: 0.0087 seconds (approximately 24 inches).
