      Left Lane: Lex Joon         Runs 4.120/293.98, Now #1
     Right Lane: Joran Persaker   Runs 4.274/206.35, Now #2
3:12 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 21 percent, barometer 29.07 inches, adjusted altitude 2,307 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

...and we have a #1 and #2 qualifier from outside the USA.

Both cars get to the finish line without drama, but Persaker is dropping cylinders down track.

Both cars get off the line and Mariani strikes the tires first.

Cullinan is the first "benefactor" of the new oil down rule and has his 4.344 ET and 238.17MPH scratched from the ladder. The car ran to near mid-track before the engine expired, with flames and smoke from the engine.

The Safety Safari is out in force dusting and cleaning down track.

Now joy for these two, as both cars succumbs to tire amoke almost together. Lagana pumps it and them gives it up.

Both cars are dropping cylinders and that may have helped in these tough conditions, as they move to the top two spots on the ladder.

Both cars similar sixty foot times and then the BME dragster strikes the tires before the 330 lights.

McMillen car continues on down, but the engine isn't happy. Lots of dropped cylinders and then a big plume of smoke cancels his 4.119 ET and 249.44 MPH.

More clean up in the right lane.

3:55 p.m. The call goes out to start the engines.

Lucas is away first, but spins and shakes before sixty feet.

Torrance makes it look easy and thunders on down the track to card a sub-three ninety ET and take over the new #1 position on the ladder.

Two strong leaves and the left lane takes another victim, as Grubnic's slicks are smoking right after the sixty foot lights.

Kalitta's pass is almost flawless, but there is a flash from the engine in the lights. NO OIL!

It's the right lane this time, as Langdon's Lucas Oil dragster shakes and spins off the line.

Bernstein gets a good pass to tune to and moves into the #4 spot on the ladder.

A great side by side pair with both cars getting it all to the track.

They had identical 0.835 sixty foot times and then Dixon's Al-Anabi dragster started a steady pull ahead to the lights to take the top spot on the ladder.

Schumacher won't pick up any points against Dixon this session, but keeps bragging rights for top speed.

Cullinan gets away first, but can match Karamesines pace. The cars starts to smoke heavily and slows.

Karamesines dragster makes a almost clean pass into the #8 slot, with a lot of smoke at the finish line.

They leave together and Langdon's car starts to pull ahead all the way to the finish line. That good enough for a top half of the field #5 spot. Brown gets a full pass too into the new #7 spot.

Neergaard is away first, but quickly starts to drop cylinders. He stays it too long and there is a flash and fire from the engine. The car continues to burn until it spots on the track, but he is OK. Needless to say: Oil on the track!

Persaker has a much drier pass and moves up two s[pots to the current #16 spot.

Mariani's fueler starts to drop cylinder on the left bank and it drives the car almost over the center line before he can get it straightened out.

Bernstein puts the power to the ground and moves well up the ladder to near the top half.

Persaker strikes the tires at the hit and slows right away.

A Team Lucas and Team Schumacher final round. Brown is in his sixth final round appearance and is the defending event champion. The winner of the round will be #4 in the TF points. Brown is 4 - 2 against Langdon in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round.

They leave within 0.001 of each other and Brown then takes the lead. He pulls steadily ahead all the way down the track until near the finish line, where there was a big flash off the engine and a bunch of smoke. No oil, so his times will stand.

Langdon had to pump the throttle before the 330 lights and made a valiant attempt to make up the margin.
