The world's largest drag racing organization proudly crowned its first World Champion of the drag racing sport, Buddy Garner of Hobbs, N.M. The World Champion of drag racing title was determined by the participant who achieved the most wins during the 26-week 1960 season. Garner's Chevy-milled Plymouth C/A won 24 of the possible 26 class wins and 21 eliminator wins for a grand total of 500 points.
Garner received a 1961 Chevy pickup truck for his achievement. The Chevy Truck is equipped with V-8 engine, radio, heater and "stick" shift. The truck features oversize tires and heavy duty springs to carry tools and racing parts and a custom built 'Dreamer' camper.
