The 15th Nationals was a highlight-filled event. D.A. Santucci (pictured) earned himself a new nickname at Indy --"Bubblegum" -- after he passed out when chewing gum became lodged in his windpipe during a qualifying run, but came back later to score his first win. Tom Neja also earned himself a place in Indy infamy when he slammed on the brakes in the Stock final, forgetting that the no breakout rule was in effect, costing himself the title.
Don "the Snake" Prudhomme became the second man in history to win more than one Nationals Top Eliminator title, when he defeated Kelly Brown in the Top Fuel final run.
