Of the many cars that all-time Pro Stock win leader Bob Glidden campaigned over the course of his long and glorious career, none matched the success of his 1978 Ford Fairmont. The car's national event debut was a victory at the Summernationals and Glidden then went undefeated for an entire calendar year before losing in the semifinals of the 1979 Mile-High Nationals.
At the Summernationals, Glidden continued his march to yet another NHRA Winston Pro Stock World Championship with a series of untouchable 8.50 clockings to easily turn back the tightest yet Pro Stock field in NHRA national event history.
