Bernstein beats Force for first event title At the Cajun Nationals, Kenny Bernstein drove his Chelsea King Arrow to his first NHRA national event win, defeating in the final round John Force, who was making his first career final-round appearance. Glidden's win streak snapped at Mile-Highs All good things must come to an end, and for Bob Glidden, it was a year's worth of total domination of the Pro Stock ranks that was snapped with his second round red-light loss to eventual winner Randy Humphrey at the NHRA Mile-High Nationals. Champions decided at traction-plagued Finals Rob Bruins, Don Prudhomme, and Bob Glidden locked up Winston championships on an unusually slippery track at the Winston World Finals at Ontario Motor Speedway. Glidden won Pro Stock, too, and was joined in victory by Don Garlits and Gordie Bonin.
