Bob Glidden, for so long a force in NHRA Pro Stock racing, won the 85th and, ultimately, final NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series event of his storied career at the Mopar Parts Nationals. The 10-time Winston Pro Stock champ, who suffered a heart attack the previous December, says he always knew he'd drive again.
After missing the season-opening Winternationals, the first time in his 23-year Pro Stock career that he did not attempt to qualify for an NHRA national event, Glidden was back behind the wheel at the next event. The Mopar Parts Nationals win was his first in nearly two years after having his 21-year streak of winning at least one NHRA national event snapped in 1994.
