GAINESVILLE, Fla. –  The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series tackled the Gainesville Raceway quarter mile this weekend with hundreds of racers going head to head in today's elimination rounds.  Winners were crowned in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car, as well as the rest of the classes that make up the nationwide series.

NHRA Southeast division racers head to Atlanta Dragway for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, March 5-7.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Competitors made their final qualifying runs and time trials today for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Gainesville Raceway and will kick off eliminations tomorrow morning.  Racing classes range from five-second dragsters and Funny Cars,to Super Gas roadsters and wheelstanding Super Stocks, all battling it out on the quarter mile.

Gates open at 8 a.m. with round 1 for Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eliminations for the rest of the classes kick off at 9 a.m.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – NHRA Southeast division racers invaded Gainesville Raceway today to kick off the weekend's action for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.  The event is the second of five events in the 2010 season where competitors will earn points toward both national and divisional championships.

Qualifying continues on Saturday for all classes.  Sunday's schedule includes eliminations followed by winner's circle and the crowning of the champions.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The second event of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will be hosted by Gainesville Raceway on Feb. 19-21.  The event is the second of 39 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000. It is also the second of five Lucas Oil Series events slated in NHRA's Southeast division.

Gates at Gainesville Raceway open at 8 a.m. each day.  Qualifying and time trials start Friday at 10 a.m. and continue Saturday at 9 a.m.  Racers in Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman will have one qualifying session on Friday, beginning at 4 p.m., and two on Saturday at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.  Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will qualify Saturday at 3 and 6 p.m.  Eliminations start Sunday morning at 9.  First round for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car is slated for 1 p.m.

Competitors in Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster will also be completing their elimination rounds from the Lucas Oil event in Bradenton Feb. 12-14, on Saturday during qualifying for the Gainesville event.

Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Gainesville Raceway are $10 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday.  A three-day pass is $ 45.  Children 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.
