Sunday

HEBRON, OhioIn the final results from National Trail Raceway's Buckeye Fuel Wars and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Bill Reichert, Owosso, Mich., and Paul Gill, Brockton, Mass., took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.

Reichert, the current NHRA Lucas Oil National Champion, worked his way through the field and ran 5.448 seconds at 259.29 mph for the easy victory over Richard Putz, Earlville, Iowa.  The win is Reichert's fifth of the season that includes both divisional and national event wins.

Gill faced off against Brent Henry, Breckenridge, Colo., and posted a winning run of 5.739 seconds, 248.34 mph in his '08 Mustang for his first win of the year.

Two Ohio racers made the trip to winner's circle this weekend as Kevin Myers, Williamsport, Ohio, drove his '71 Nova past Rudy Matthews, Ohio City, Ohio, in Super Street and Marco Abruzzi, Warren, Ohio, beat Tim Molnar, Seville, Ohio, in Top Sportsman.

Brad Zaskowski, Belmont, Mich., bettered his runner up finish from last year posting the win in Super Stock against Andy Kronenbitter of Lancaster, Ohio.

Other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were Al Ackerman, Saddle Brook, N.J., in Comp Eliminator; Greg Kamplain, Brownsburg, Ind., in Super Comp; Katie Sepanek, Moosic, Pa., in Stock Eliminator; Marlin Snyder, Avon, Ind., in Super Gas; and James Monroe, Bloomington, Ind., in Top Dragster. 

North Central Division racers head to Beech Bend Raceway Park for the last race of the division in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, August 27-29.

HEBRON, Ohio – Day two is in the books for the Buckeye Fuel Wars Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at National Trail Raceway.  Racers made their final qualifying and time trial runs today in preparation for Sunday's final eliminations.

Racers in 10 different classes including 260 mph Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars will be battling it out in head to head competition on Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. for a chance at taking home the trophy and their share of cash and contingency awards of more than $150,000.  Round one of the Top Alcohol classes is set for a noon. HEBRON, Ohio – National Trail Raceway opened its doors today to the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and the Buckeye Fuel Wars.  More than 500 of the best racer in the NHRA North Central Division took to the track in search of championship points toward both national and divisional titles. 

Racers made opening qualifying and time trial runs today and will follow up on Saturday with final qualifying and time trails before heading into eliminations on Sunday.  Gates open on Saturday's at 8 a.m. with Top Alcohol Dragsters and Funny Cars qualifying at 1 and 5 p.m.  Tickets for either Saturday or Sunday are $20, children 6-12 are $5 each day and kids 5 and under are free.  For more information call National Trail Raceway at (740) 928-5706 or visit www.nationaltrailraceway.com

The next stop for NHRA's North Central division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series is National Trail Raceway for the Buckeye Fuel War on July 23-25.  The race will feature drivers in eight categories, including the division's Top Sportsman class and Spitzer Race Cars Top Dragster category. The event is one of six in the North Central Division where drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000.

Gates at National Trail Raceway open at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday,  and Sunday at 7.a.m.  Qualifying and time trials start Friday morning at 10 a.m. and continue Saturday at 9 a.m.  Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator will have one qualifying run on Friday, starting at 2:30 p.m., and two on Saturday, at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will qualify Friday, at 5 p.m. and Saturday, at 1 and 5 p.m.  Eliminations start Sunday at 8:30 a.m.  Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will round one is at noon.

Buckeye Fuel Wars: Fact Sheet

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND:
A $561,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2010 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional champions and national champions.  Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.  The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $119,000 purse from Jegs High Performance.  The 2011 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.  The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2011 Jegs Allstars during the United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals in June, 2011.  Points are based on in-division races only. 

The winning division's team will share $20,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions.  Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece.  Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants.  Any 2011 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

 SPITZER RACE CARS LOW QUALIFIER BONUS: A $7,000 bonus fund from Spitzer Race Cars will pay low qualifiers in the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car classes $500 at each of the North Central division's races where the categories are contested.  There will also be a year-end bonus of $1,000 to be awarded to the driver in each class with the most points earned through qualifying position at each of the events.

COAN ENGINEERING LOW QUALIFIER BONUS: A $3,000 bonus fund from Coan will pay the low qualifiers in the Competition and Super Stock classes $200 and the low qualifier in Stock class $100 at each  of the North Central division's six races.

COMPETITION ELIMINATOR BONUS:  A $3,600 per event non-contingent round money bonus is awarded to Competition qualifiers by the following companies:  C-Tech Aluminum Cabinets, Steve Schmidt Competition Engines, Rick Watters Racing Engines, Liberty Gears, Browell Bellhousing, Butner Auto Sales, Wright Tool, Bruno's Converters, Bullet Racing Cams, Miller, A-1 Transmissions, Dewco Performance and C&M Engineering.

SPITZER RACE CARS TOP DRAGSTER CLASS: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Spitzer Race Cars Top Dragster class are vying for division championships and a share in the $3,200 event purse as well as points leading to a divisional championship.  Top Dragster racers may earn points at the six North Central Division Lucas Oil events as well as the NHRA Jegs Northern SPORTSnationals.  Points may also be earned at other NHRA division Top Sportsman series events.
