FONTANA, Calif. – Nearly 500 cars took to the strip at Auto Club Dragway at California Speedway this weekend for the NHRA Jegs SPORTSnationals presented by K&N.  High winds in the area plagued the event throughout the day and only three out of eight categories crowned winners on Sunday and the other classes were completed on Monday. 

Justin Lamb, Henderson, Nev., won the Super Stock title.  He drove his '07 Cobalt to the win over Palmdale, Calif., racer Darren Smith in his '67 Dart.  In Stock Eliminator, Tibor Kadar, Peoria, Ariz., wheeled his '77 Firebird to the winner's circle over former NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League competitor Kyle Rizzoli of San Luis Obispo, Calif.  Dwight Downing of Glendale, Ariz., in his '79 Arrow scored the win in Super Street beating out Joe Lokhaug of Bakersfield, Calif., driving his '68 Camaro.

Racers in Comp Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster had to wait an extra day before they could complete their eliminations. Former world champ Dean Carter scored in Comp eliminator with a final-round decision over J.D. Zink while Super Comp honors went to Aaron Kinard over Michael Mangili, Super Gas gold to Val Torres over Greg Harrison, Top Sportsman honors to Rick Takahashi over Robert Matthews, and the Top Dragster title to Colt Dwyer over Pat Jones.
