Sampey takes over top spot
Houston, Saturday: Sampey entered Saturday's final qualifying action 15th in the order, but she turned in a track-record setting 7.038-second pass at 190.59 mph in the first session of the day to jump to the number one position. "From zero to hero," she said with a chuckle. "Truthfully, I didn't think that run was going to be as quick as it turned out. I got a bit out of shape early in the run, so I thought that hurt me. But, I'm definitely happy to be where we're at and even happier that Antron ended up second." Sampey takes on 16th-place qualifier, Geno Scali, in round one of eliminations.
