Pedregon looking for Royal Flush

Las Vegas, prerace: Former NHRA World Champion Tony Pedregon and his Q Power Funny Car Team head to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for the exciting NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals, gambling on another victory after winning this event twice in the past.

Pedregon dominated at this track in 2003, winning both the Spring and Fall races: “I definitely have some history at that track. I actually wrapped up my NHRA Funny Car championship in 2003 there. It was the second-to-last race of the year, and it came down to a final-round showdown with Whit Bazemore – whoever won the round won the championship, and I took the win. I love Vegas anyway, and when you put a drag race in that city, it makes it more special. Great city, and we race at one of the premier racing facilities in the country – there’s not a whole lot not to like about the place.”

Aside from focusing on the race, Pedregon is also going to take some time to enjoy the other entertainment options Vegas has to offer: “We have a great relationship with the Maloof family and the Palms hotel, and they are going to be reserving a poker table for me and some of our other sponsors Thursday evening prior to the race. Part of why we love to go to Vegas to race is to spend some time at the Palms, just like the fans. I like gambling, and am a pretty good poker player.”
