Jason Line Summit Racing Equipment Chevy Camaro

Las Vegas, prerace: Fresh off a semifinal appearance at the last race in Houston, coupled with a No. 1 qualifying spot and low elapsed time of the weekend, Jason Line is looking for the jackpot -- a win -- in Las Vegas at this weekend’s NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals.

Line will try to improve his current sixth place position in the POWERade Pro Stock point standing when qualifying gets underway on Friday

In his only appearance at Las Vegas in 2003, Line captures the No. 2 qualifying position and advance to the semifinals at the fall race. In the spring race of 2004, he repeated those numbers, once again qualifying No. 2, losing to Kurt Johnson in the semifinals.

Line’s best outing on the quarter-mile track at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway came in the fall race of 2004 when he qualified No. 1, had low elapsed time of the weekend and finished runner-up to his teammate Greg Anderson. This year Line hopes to turn around his misfortunes of 2005 when he didn’t qualify well and exited early.

“After doing pretty well in the previous two years, it was a disappointment last year,” said Line. “I really like this track and can’t wait for the fun to begin this Friday. It’s the hometown of our team owner Ken Black and it’s always great to see Ken, Judy and their son Kenny while we here. The team is pumped and we look forward to putting on a good show in front of the Blacks and their many guests.

“As if that isn’t incentive enough, this race is sponsor by Summit Racing, who just happens to be the company that backs the Pontiac GTOs that both my teammate Greg Anderson and I compete in on the NHRA circuit. We want to do well in front of the folks from Summit. Hopefully, one of the two Summit Racing Equipment cars will be in the winner’s circle on Sunday.”
