McClenathan qualifies seventh
Las Vegas, Saturday: Cory McClenathan drove the Carrier Boyz' FRAM Boost Top Fuel dragster to three consistent qualifying runs at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and will start seventh in Sunday's SummitRacing.com Nationals. McClenthan, 10th in 2006 POWERade Series points, recorded his quickest run, 4.579 seconds at 330.47 mph, Friday night. He races David Grubnic (10th, 4.589 at 322.34) in the opening round. "Wes (Cerny, crew chief) is getting a pretty good handle on the tune-up," said McClenathan. "The car is still going down the track. We had good runs of 4.882, 4.579 and 4.584 seconds. We had an ignition problem on our last run Saturday and I had to shut it off. We are glad that happened now rather than in Sunday's first round. We aren't the fastest car on the block, but we are consistent. I'm confident going into eliminations.
