Erica Enders GK Motorsports Chevy Cobalt

Las Vegas, Sunday: Pro Stock driver Erica Enders enjoyed another successful weekend of racing at The Strip in Las Vegas, the fifth of 23 events on the NHRA tour. Enders has been on a roll since the end of 2005, currently holding the No. 3 spot in the NHRA Pro Stock standings.

Enders qualified her Slammers Ultimate Milk Chevy Cobalt in the No. 3 position for the second straight race during Saturday's third qualifying session, running a 6.79 at 202.94 mph.

"Qualifying in the top positions was so close this weekend," Enders said. "We actually matched Warren Johnson's No. 2 e.t. but he had us on speed. It's amazing how even all these cars are."

Enders' qualifying effort paired her with Larry Morgan in the first round of eliminations on Sunday. During the race, Enders left the starting line first with a near perfect .005 light and never looked back, running a 6.827 to Morgan's 6.864.

Enders' win moved her into a second round match-up with Pro Stock veteran Kurt Johnson. At the green, Enders once again got the starting line advantage, but fell short at the finish line with a 6.857 to Johnson's 6.823.

"We are consistently going rounds and that is what's important," Enders said. "We're still No. 3 overall, but we are gaining ground on Greg [Anderson] and Mike [Edwards]. There is still a long season ahead of us, so we are just focusing on taking it one round at a time and doing our best. So far that has been working pretty good."
