Lee headed to sponsor's home track

Columbus, prerace: With the support of Allied Machine & Engineering Corp, the J&B Motorsports Funny Car team will head to National Trail Raceway this weekend for the Pontiac Performance NHRA Nationals, a short drive from Allied’s headquarters in Dover, Ohio.

"We are excited to race in front of our hometown crowd, as we live about two hours from National Trail Raceway in Alliquipa, Pa.," said team co-owner Jeff McGaffic. "We consider this our home track and will entertain customers and employees from Allied this weekend."

"I’m looking forward to getting out there racing this weekend with the folks from Allied, said J&B Motorsports driver Paul Lee. "This is a big race for us, and our team found some things in the tune up at our last race in Houston that will hopefully allow us to take the next step in the performance department. We know we need to run in the 4.80s if we hope to make some noise.

"The Funny Car class is definitely tough. We all know that it takes lots of dedication, sacrifices, and most importantly, truckloads of money to compete successfully in the Funny Car class. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart or wallet. Nevertheless, we treat it as a business and you need to start somewhere and build the team with successful marketing partnerships."

Also returning to National Trail this weekend with veteran crew chief Jimbo Ermalovich are crew members Ron Blanford, Brandon Blanford, John Davis, Ron Rummel, Steve Levine, and Rich Allen.

"We have some of the most loyal and supportive sponsors a team could ask for," McGaffic said. "We can’t thank them enough for their support. Those loyal sponsors include Allied Machine and Engineering Corporation, Perryman Products, Boninfante Clutches, Firefox Ind., Kimberly Clark, SAE Motorsports, Calcutta Auto Parts, and Cradin Industries."
