Dave Northrop Nitro Fish/ISC Racers Tape Pro Stocker

Chicago, Sunday: For Dave Northrop, everything he’s doing in NHRA Pro Stock racing is positive and making progress. The next step, he says, should be a round win.

Northrop, driving Kenny Koretsky’s red Nitro Fish/ISC Racers Tape Dodge Stratus, qualified 15th for Sunday’s CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals and drew No. 2 starter Mike Edwards. Edwards pulled away early en route to a 6.675-second, 207.11-mph decision over Northrop’s 6.722 at 205.63 mph.

Northrop had qualified with a career-topping 6.698 seconds at 205.13 mph.

“This is a tough class, “said Northrop, of Perkasie, Pa. “It was positive for us to qualify in the quickest Pro Stock field in history. Eddie (Guarnaccia, crew chief) did a nice job tuning the car. The more runs we make, the better is it is.”
