Pedregon reaches quarterfinals, retains fifth-place ranking

Englishtown, Sunday: Tony Pedregon and his Q Power Race Team qualified 5th and reached the quarterfinals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ, during the NHRA SuperNationals this past weekend in the NHRA Nitro Funny Car division, and remains solidly in fifth place in the 2006 point standings.

"We're pleased that we are back to consistently qualifying in the top five or six each week, and I believe we'll soon be able to qualify on the pole, or at least in the top two or three on a regular basis," Pedregon said of the upcoming races. "Our approach was the same this week as it has been in the past - to keep the car consistent. We're a little disappointed in that we missed the setup due to some pretty extreme conditions.

"A few months ago our goal was to eliminate first-round losses, and we have done that. We made a good call during the first round in Englishtown, which resulted in one of the quickest elapsed times. I feel confident we won't continue to miss the setup like we did today. We'll continue to expect more from this team, evaluate everything we did this past weekend, and I know we'll go to St. Louis and be prepared for the conditions there."
