Early loss still a learning experience

St. Louis, Sunday: Robert Hight qualified first at 4.803 seconds, 319.75 mph, then beat Tony Bartone before losing to Gary Scelzi. Hight claimed his fourth No. 1 qualifying award of the season, equaling boss, teammate and father-in-law John Force’s category-leading total.

“Jimmy [Prock, crew chief] gave me a great race car and I just didn’t get the job done, but we learned a lot about racing in the heat and that’s going to help us later,” he said. “And the good thing is that Denver is our next race and we’re the defending champions.”
