Lucas defeated in first round

Denver, Sunday: For Morgan Lucas, the Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway was a big letdown for him as he experienced his fourth consecutive first round loss.  His nemesis, Tony Schumacher turned backed Lucas’ fourth best elapsed time of the round to take the round win with an elapsed time of 4.802 seconds, 321.04 mph to the Brownsburg, Indiana resident’s time of 4.930 seconds, 289.76 mph. 

Lucas qualified in the No. 13 qualifying position, also for the fourth race in a row, with an elapsed time of 4.854 seconds, at a speed of 288.15 mph.

He has now accumulated 622 points and remains in the eighth position in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel points standings.

Likewise, his Lucas Oil Funny Car teammate, Tony Bartone also suffered a first round loss to Robert Hight.  Bartone ran a time of 5.208 seconds, 294.24 mph to Hight’s winning time of 5.148 seconds, 301.07 mph.
