Dave Connolly Industrial Distribution Group Chevrolet Cobalt

Seattle, Saturday: Dave Connolly, Tommy Utt and the Skull Gear Pro Stock Chevy Cobalt team tuned up for Sunday's Schuck's Auto Supply Nationals by running the fourth-quickest elapsed time in Saturday's midday heat at Pacific Raceways.

Connolly had run 6.724 seconds at 204.94 mph in the day's first run which came under overcast skies and better racing conditions.  He was timed in 6.746 seconds on the last run when temperatures were in the 90s.

"We gave up a little (elapsed time) because I didn't keep the car in the groove," said Connolly, who has won three times and finished second once in the previous seven races. "Everybody seems to be running pretty good in these conditions.  It doesn't look like there's an easy side of the ladder. Whoever wins the race will have earned it."

Connolly, coming off a win last week in Denver, races veteran Warren Johnson (10th, 6.725 at 204.94 mph) in Sunday's opening round.
