Connolly winds up seventh in qualifying
Connolly had run 6.724 seconds at 204.94 mph in the day's first run which came under overcast skies and better racing conditions. He was timed in 6.746 seconds on the last run when temperatures were in the 90s. "We gave up a little (elapsed time) because I didn't keep the car in the groove," said Connolly, who has won three times and finished second once in the previous seven races. "Everybody seems to be running pretty good in these conditions. It doesn't look like there's an easy side of the ladder. Whoever wins the race will have earned it."
