Line has an eye on the winner’s circle

Sonoma, prerace: With his eye on the winner’s circle, Pro Stock driver Jason Line knows that he must be at the top of his game when the final event of the three-race Western Swing – the NHRA Fram Autolite Nationals – unfolds this weekend at Infineon Raceway.

With a quick and fast car to rely on, Line sits atop the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standings for the first time in his career, but the driver from Terrell, N.C., by way of Wright, Minn., knows he must use the full potential of his KB Racing LLC-owned Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO to separate himself from the rest of the field.

“We got to the top by having the best car out there both in qualifying and eliminations,” Line said on the eve of the Sonoma race. “Now we must make a move to show that we are the best and, because there are so few races remaining, we must not let anything get in the way of putting this Summit Pontiac in the winner’s circle here at Infineon Raceway. It is up to us and this KB Racing team. With no time left, we must start right now!”

Entering Sonoma, Line leads the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standing with 935 points. Teammate Greg Anderson, who drives an identical Summit Racing Pontiac GTO, is second, 25 points behind Line. Dave Connolly, third in the standings, is 56 points behind the leader. Jim Yates (fourth) and Kurt Johnson (fifth) round out the top five.
