Dave Northrop Nitro Fish/ISC Racers Tape Pro Stocker

Indianapolis, Sunday:  It was agony and ecstasy in Kenny Koretsky's Nitro Fish/ISC Racers Tape Dodge Pro Stock pit area Sunday afternoon as qualifying concluded for Monday's 52nd Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.

Agony was Koretsky missing the starting line-up with a quickest run of 6.726 seconds at 204.91 mph in the blue Nitro Fish Dodge while Dave Northrop put the red Nitro Fish Dodge into the field in 16th place with a 6.717 at 205.29 mph.

"We didn't miss it by much," said Koretsky, who was driving in only his second event of the year.  He was runner-up here in 2004.

"We were on the edge of our seats," Northrop said.  "Kenny's car was the only one we wouldn't mind getting bumped by. It's too bad we couldn't have both been in the starting lineup."

Northrop's 6.717-second run came Sunday morning.

"Eddie (Guarnaccia, crew chief) continues working on the car get it running better," Northrop added.  "We made a good run but we're still a little off from where we want to be.  We'll try to get all that figured out by Monday."

Northrop squares off against Greg Anderson, No. 1 qualifier at 6.662 seconds, 206.95 mph.
