Morgan Lucas GEICO/Lucas Oil dragster

Las Vegas, prerace: Morgan Lucas is planning on a very active schedule the next couple of weeks with a full calendar of racing action at the sixth annual ACDelco NHRA Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with numerous appearances during and following the race at the SEMA and APEX aftermarket automotive conventions.

His week begins with an event at the Cannery Casino in their ‘The Club’ on Wednesday, Oct. 25 benefiting the Las Vegas Chapter of the Speedway Children’s Charities at the third annual Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament at 7 p.m. 

On Thursday, Lucas will be participating in the Big Bud Shootout autograph session from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino followed by the Big Bud Shootout drawing party at 7 p.m.  The entries from eighth through 15th in the qualifying points standings will have their chance to extract the providential Budweiser can with the lucky No. 8 on it to insure admittance into the special race on Saturday, which pays $100,000 to the winner.  Lucas is presently in the hopeful No. 9 position.

Last year Lucas entered the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals as the No. 1 qualifier with a stellar time of 4.508 seconds resulting in a quarterfinal finish.  This year, Lucas wants to build momentum for 2007 while other race teams are focusing on the championship, giving him the advantage to discover quicker ways to make his Top Fuel dragster perform.

“We really want to make some rounds this weekend in Las Vegas,” said Lucas.  “We’ve shown the performance at this track before and its preparation will give us some great opportunities to show our potential.  We only have a couple of races remaining in 2006 and we want to end the year running our best to put in order our possibility of becoming a POWERade championship contender in 2007.”

With all the glitz and glamour that presents Las Vegas at its finest, the Lucas Oil team led by John Stewart and Ronnie Thompson are doing everything is their power to indemnify all opportunities in search of peak performance.

“Our team is working harder than ever to show we can win,” said a positive feeling Lucas.  “We just need to find the consistency in qualifying we’ve been looking for to enable us into trying some interesting new things to increase our capabilities.”
