Eric Medlen Auto Club/Pleasant Holidays Ford Mustang

Las Vegas, Sunday: Ironically, the most successful of the Team Castrol entries was the one with no chance to win the season championship.  Eric Medlen, driver of the Castrol Syntec Ford, continued his second half surge by reaching the semifinals and solidifying his hold on fourth place in season points.

The 33-year-old Californian goes into the last of the season's 23 races 74 points behind Robert Hight and 76 behind Ron Capps.

"That was a heartbreaker," Medlen said of his .002 of a second loss to Johnson.  "No matter how you lose them, it's never easy.  When they're that close it makes it even tougher. Maybe I'm saying that because that's how we lost today (but) I'm real proud of our guys. We have come a long way and they are doing a great job."
