Cory Mac consistent in qualifying
McClenathan wound up eighth in an extremely close battle for the top 16 positions. Only nine-hundredths of a second separate No. 1 Tony Schumacher's 4.490-second time to 15th place Steve Torrence's 4.599. "That was another good run for us and we are happy with that," said McClenathan. "We didn't have a problem with it. I shut off the engine and we ran 330.88 mph. We ran 331.85 mph Thursday." A broken engine lifter shut off the engine at the finish line on his Thursday." He has two more attempts Saturday -- when cooler, cloudy conditions are expected to drop elapsed times.
