Koretsky to start fifth in season-opener

Pomona, Saturday:  "That was certainly a very good start for our new car and new team," Kenny Koretsky said after qualifying the Indicom Electric/Nitro Fish Chevy Cobalt fifth Saturday in the tight Pro Stock field for Sunday's season-opening Winternationals at Pomona Raceway.

Koretsky, who stayed among the top six during qualifying, ran 6.659 seconds at 207.82 mph.  He'll meet newcomer Rdoger Brogdon, the 12th qualifier at 6.672, 197.93 mph.

"We made four good runs and we learned something on every one of the them," said Eddie Guarnaccia, Koretsky's longtime friend and crew chief.  "Everybody on the team did a good job. It takes a good team to be competitive. I certainly think we are capable of doing some damage Sunday.  Our car has been running in the top four or five cars.  Because we are a new team, we are learning as we go."
