Steve Johnson Steve Johnson Racing Suzuki Pro-Stock Bike

, Sunday: Steve Johnson, rider of the K&N Filters/Snap-on Tools Suzuki qualified seventh in last weekends NHRA AC Delco Nationals in Las Vegas. Qualifying in the top half of the field kept Johnson in the number 5 spot in the prestigious Ringer’s Glove Pro Bike Battle.

During the fourth round of qualifying the team lost their best engine to a catastrophic explosion on the top end of the track.

For the first round of eliminations, the team put in their backup engine to race Antron Brown.

“This engine could have easily gotten the job done,” said Johnson.  “Every engine is a little different and I missed the carburetor settings just a couple of jet sizes.  We beat him off of the line, but loosing by a little more than a thousandth of a second is pretty frustrating.  It could have gone either way, but I know we will be ready for the last race of the season coming up in two weeks in Pomona.”

Johnson remains in eighth place in the NHRA POWERade Top 10.
