Melanie Troxel In-n-Out Burger Dodge R/T

Norwalk, Sunday:  Melanie Troxel drove her Vietnam Veterans POW/MIA Top Fuel dragster sponsored by Torco Racing Fuels to a first round finish against top qualifier, Hot Rod Fuller.

Troxel approached the starting line with plenty of optimism, but regrettably Fuller prevailed in the great side-by-side race with near exact times of 4.664 seconds, 313.07 mph to her run of 4.666 seconds, 316.01 mph.  The margin of victory was a slim .032-of a second.

Ironically, Troxel had also qualified her Vietnam Vets dragster in the No. 16 position with an identical elapsed time of 4.666 seconds, 321.35 mph.

With her first round defeat, it deeply affected her place in the NHRA POWERade Countdown to the Championship Top Fuel points standings.  She now has 519 points and is in the eighth position after the completion of 11 of 23 races.  There are only six races remaining until the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis on Labor Day weekend, the start of the Countdown to determine the 2007 champion.
