McClenathan to start 15th

Denver, Saturday: Cory McClenathan recorded his quickest quarter-mile run in the high altitude of Bandimere Speedway in Saturday's opening round (4.819 seconds at 308.35 mph) and wound up 15th in the starting line-up for Sunday's Mopar Mile-High Nationals.

And, it turned out, it was a good thing because a mechanical problem prevented the Scott Griffin Motorsports FRAM Top Fuel team from making its final attempt.

"There was a problem on the warm-up and we shut it off," said McClenathan. "The guys went through everything and couldn't find the problem.  I'm confident we'll be ready when first round comes along Sunday.

"It was fortunate our first Saturday run held up because I had to pedal it."

McClenathan meets David Grubnic (No. 2, 4.612 at 324.97) in the opening round.
