Millican qualifies third on only run

Seattle, Saturday:  Rain welcomed Clay Millican, crew chief Mike Kloeber and the crew of Evan Knoll's RATT Back for More Tour Top Fuel team and washed out three of the four qualifying rounds scheduled for Sunday's Schuck's Auto Supply Nationals.  But the team definitely made the most of the single run.

Millican, in the second pair of cars to go down the track in 2007, sped through the quarter-mile in 4.604 seconds at 313.22 mph and that held up for third-quickest.

"We are ready to go racing," said Millican.  "I thought what Mike and Johnny (West, assistant crew chief) did putting a run like that together, was very impressive.  We were at a disadvantage because weren't able to watch any cars go down the track in front of us.  We are looking forward to Sunday. We ran well Saturday and I think we'll be okay on race day."

Millican, of Drummonds, Tenn., has not competed here before.  Kloeber, however, has, and the veteran tuner who lives in VancouverWash., called upon that history.  In his last visit to Pacific Raceways, formerly Seattle International Raceway, he tuned Cristen Powell to the No. 1 Top Fuel spot.

Millican squares off against Rod Fuller, the current POWERade Series points leader, who was 14th, 6.153 at 283.07, in his only attempt.
