Line turned back in close loss
Seattle, Sunday: In the opening round of eliminations today, reigning NHRA Pro Stock champ Jason Line was turned back by V. Gaines at this weekend’s 20th annual NHRA Schuck’s Auto Supply Nationals. After the start of this rain plagued event was delayed some 50 minutes, racing got underway as Mother Nature cooperated. Line’s KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO covered the Pacific Raceway quarter-mile in 6.697 seconds, while Gaines recorded a 6.682-second pass. The margin of victory for Gaines was slightly over 2 hundredths of a second – approximately six feet at the finish line. For Line, he now looks forward to the next race at Infineon Raceway which he won last year. The win last year started a string of three final rounds in a row and six in the last nine races.
