Dave Connolly Industrial Distribution Group Chevrolet Cobalt

Sonoma, Friday: Dave Connolly took advantage of the cooler night temperatures Friday to run the third-quickest elapsed time (6.631 seconds at 206.36 mph) in the opening qualifying rounds for Sunday's FRAM Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway.

The Elyria, Ohio, native is coming off his third win of the season Sunday at Seattle.  He opened the day with a 6.714-second run in Evan Knoll's Torco Racing Fuels Chevy Cobalt that had him in seventh place.

"We still missed the tune-up" in the night session, said Connolly, "but it was a pretty nice run and we wound up in the three spot.  We haven't run in these conditions (cool and ideal) in awhile and it kind of opened up the field, so we weren't the only ones to miss it.  We are happy with the way our car is running and we'll see what Saturday has in store for us."
