Will turned back in opening round, already looking to Indy

Reading, Sunday:  At the 23rd annual NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, Hillary Will, driver of KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster, saw her Countdown to the Championship hopes evaporate in less than five seconds when she lost to Clay Millican in the opening round of eliminations.

Millican got away first at the light, covering the Maple Grove quarter-mile in 4.546 seconds to take the win light.  Will recorded an elapsed time of 4.593 seconds.

This is the last race of the first segment of the Countdown.  Even though Will, who has qualified for 40 consecutive events since turning professional in 2006, has been eliminated from this year’s championship contention, she will use the remaining six races in pursuit of the winner’s circle at each of those six races and will continue to accumulate POWERade points and Technicoat qualifying points for the Technicoat Top Fuel Shootout which will be held in conjunction with the NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the final weekend in October.

“Our season definitely isn’t over,” said Will.  “We are already looking forward to Indy.  This was the last race for our current paint scheme and it’s time for a change.  We’ll roll out a new paint scheme for the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals and try to put it in the winner’s circle its first time out.”
