Dave Connolly Industrial Distribution Group Chevrolet Cobalt

Indianapolis, Friday: Dave Connolly did not run as quick as he thought he could Friday night in the opening round of the 53rd Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park, but it was good enough to place him ninth. He was timed in 6.684 seconds at 205.66 mph.

"We had a vacuum problem and the clutch was a little soft," Connolly said of his Torco Racing Fuels Chevy Cobalt. "We definitely had a lot left."

He has two more runs on tap Saturday and two again on Sunday to get set for Monday's eliminations.
