Dallas, Saturday:  Doug Herbert and the Snap-on Tools team failed to qualify for the tough field at the O’Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals.

Herbert’s best pass of the weekend came during Friday evening’s qualifying session, a 4.65 second pass at 293.22 mph. The time placed him in the No. 17 position, just .011 of a second outside the 16-car field.

“We didn’t get it done,” said Herbert. “What else can we say? This definitely hurts us in the Countdown, but hey, nobody gave us a chance to make the top eight and we made it happen.

“We’ll see what happens with the points after eliminations are over tomorrow, and spend the off weekend getting ready for Richmond.”
