Grubnic and the Zantrex-3 team ready to win one for the 'Old Man' in Richmond

Richmond, prerace: At this weekend’s second annual running of the Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals at the Virginia Motorsports Park in Richmond, Va., native Australian Dave Grubnic, driver of the 8,000-horsepower black and electric blue-flamed Zantrex-3 Top Fuel dragster, is more determined than ever to pay tribute to his crew chief, mentor, and boss, affectionately known as the “Old Man”, with a Richmond win.

“Connie (Kalitta, team owner) has been racking his brain this year,” said Grubnic, a 45-year old resident of Ennis, Mont. “We’ve struggled this year, and Connie takes that very personally.

“In the past few events, our Zantrex-3 car has shown a lot of promise, and our performances continue to get the consistency we need. That’s a testament to Connie’s and my team’s determination to never give up and keep fighting. I really want to get a win in Richmond for the 'Old Man' for everything he has done this year and for everything he has done for me in my career.”
