Dave Connolly Industrial Distribution Group Chevrolet Cobalt

Las Vegas, Friday: Dave Connolly began his quest for a sixth straight Pro Stock victory Friday by posting a 6.754-second, 203.98-mph run in the day's second session to claim the provisional No. 2 qualifying berth for Sunday's ACDelco Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

This event kicks off the final two races in the Countdown to One with Connolly holding a 10-point lead.

"The track kind of bit us in our first round  (6.790 at 204.08)," he said, "and it shook in second gear.  We made some changes and are happy with the way it ran in the second session."

He trails pacesetting Justin Humphreys by four-thousandths of a second going into Saturday's final two qualifying attempts.
