Bernstein: 'What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas'
Las Vegas, Sunday: Kenny Bernstein who has celebrated three victories at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, defied odds and dominated races, and “doubled down” celebrating an NHRA milestone victory with his son who was driving in the sportsman series in 2001, had Lady Luck turn her back at the defining second at the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals. Six-time champion Bernstein and the Monster Energy/Lucas Oil team battled for a position in the competitive field of 16, but with a lot of last minute shuffling, Bernstein was eliminated from Sunday’s line-up by the last contestant who had a chance of bumping into the field and did. “There’s no question that we’re disappointed for our sponsors,” said Bernstein. “Jimmy (Walsh, crew chief) and the team gave their best efforts and we just got nicked at the last minute. We want to thank our fans who have been, and continue to be, very supportive. We’ll put this weekend behind us and head to “This season’s battles have been difficult for everyone in the Funny Car category. “Throughout the weekend, we were on the starting line to continue our support for Bernstein is 13th in NHRA Funny Car point standings.
