Line will try to set positive ending to 2007 at Pomona

Pomona, prerace: Jason Line, driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiacs, would like to end the season on a positive note to set the tone for 2008.

“I would like to end the season with some momentum,” said Line. “A win would be nice and it would be great if it could be Greg (Anderson, teammate) and me in the final round. That would give all the guys here at the shop an added push during the off-season.

“At Vegas, I didn’t send many cars packing. No change that and say I didn’t send any cars packing, but we did qualify my Summit Pontiac high in the field (No. 2).

“We need to once again get a high qualifying position, but this time I need to drive my way to the final round and eliminate a few people.

“Finally, let me thank my team for a great car and a lot of hard work and long hours this year. And to the fans, thanks for letting me represent Pro Stock this year. Your support has been great.”

When qualifying begins Thursday, Line, from Mooresville, N.C, will begin his quest for his 14th career win. In 2007, he has one win (at Houston over Allen Johnson) in four final rounds. He was runner-up at Phoenix, Chicago, and Sonoma.

Line is still looking for his first win at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona (Calif.). He has finished runner-up twice, both at the season-ending Auto Club Final. In both 2006 and 2004, he was runner-up to his teammate Greg Anderson.
