Line qualified eighth

Pomona, Saturday:  Jason Line, driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac recorded a qualifying time of 6.670 seconds to grab the No. 8 position on the final qualifying ladder for the 43rd annual NHRA Auto Club Finals.

Reigning Pro Stock champion Line is now in a position to end the season on a high-note and help Greg Anderson in his quest for the 2007 championship by acting as a blocker for his teammate.

“Well I’m hoping that Greg doesn’t need any help, but I’m also hopeful that I can help him if I get the opportunity,” said Line.  “It’s good to qualify in the top half (of the field).  The car’s hasn’t made great runs but it’s still running pretty fast.  I think we’re in good shape for tomorrow.  I just have to drive well, that’s all.”

Line, from Mooresville, N.C, will begin his quest for his 14th career win when eliminations get underway tomorrow. He will face V. Gaines during the opening round of eliminations.

In 2007, he has one win (at Houston over Allen Johnson) in four final rounds.  He was runner-up at Phoenix, Chicago, and Sonoma. He will

Line is still looking for his first win at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona (Calif.).  He has finished runner-up twice, both at the season-ending Auto Club Finals.  In both 2006 and 2004, he was runner-up to his teammate Greg Anderson.
